Week 8: Roles of Institutions for SDG

Roles of Institutions for SDG

On 29 April

I gained insights into the important contributions made by international, national, and local entities—as well as individuals in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The presentation emphasized how global efforts, such as those led by the UN Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG), promote international cooperation, while national strategies like Malaysia’s five-year development plans embed SDGs into government policies and monitoring frameworks. For example, global entities like the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) promote international cooperation and policy coordination across 162 countries. At the national level, city councils and municipal authorities carry out community-based sustainability initiatives, like affordable housing and waste management, while academic institutions contribute through research, advocacy, and sustainability-focused education.
