Week 1: Ta'aruf and Introduction to SDG

Ta'aruf and Introduction to SDG

On 4 March, we have been assigned with task for watching the video given by Prof Suhaimi.

From the video given, i learned that sustainable development is a multifaceted concept aimed at meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. The lecture opened with foundational definitions, emphasizing the importance of balancing economic growth, environmental conservation, and social sustainability. It stressed that true sustainability goes beyond environmentalism to encompass fairness, intergenerational equity, and systems that work in harmony.

Furthermore, a central theme in the session was the concept of "systems thinking." This approach encourages a holistic view of the complex and often hidden interrelationships between different sectors and elements of society, economy, and environment. Systems thinking helps in understanding the ripple effects of policies and actions, highlighting the importance of feedback loops, dependencies, and long-term perspectives.

After we examine the video, we need to introduce ourselves which about our name, course, kulliyyah, hometown, former high school, describe ourselves and find the most suitable SDG goals that match with our personality.

i chose the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that best align with my personality and goals are SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). I value both physical and mental health as essential foundations for facing life’s challenges. I am also committed to continuous learning, both academically and beyond the classroom. As a law student, I aspire to help others and contribute to a just society, making SDG 16 especially meaningful to me.

Lastly, we need to put our introduction in padlet link.
